Self-Service Accessories

IS&T provides IT accessories for instructors to use in MIT classrooms, as well as ethernet cables for staff and students, through a set of self-service vending machines in several convenient locations on campus. These machines also provide KF94 face masks to any MIT community member who has an active MIT ID.

These supplies are provided at no charge. Tap your digital MIT ID on your phone or your MIT ID card to the machine’s reader and select the item you need.

Lightweight Lecture Capture

IS&T has equipped a set of classrooms for automated, unattended video and audio recording of lectures that appear on the MIT Subject Listing and Schedule and are enrolled in this program.

Note: Recording only takes place in these rooms if initiated by a request from the instructor via the MIT Atlas app.

Virtual Computer Labs

Virtual Computer Labs are available to faculty, instructors, and Department, Lab, and Center (DLC) IT support providers for deployment as virtual Athena Ubuntu 18.0.4 or Windows 10 machines for an MIT class of up to 100 students for the duration of a single academic term.

NOTE: This service is in beta. Virtual Labs will be provisioned on a first come first served basis. During this beta period, IS&T may not be able to accommodate all requests immediately if demand exceeds expectations.

Lockers

An Athena locker is a directory (aka: folder) on the Athena filesystem. IS&T creates lockers for official MIT courses, UROP projects, student living groups, ASA recognized student activities and MIT organizations (including administrative offices, academic departments, programs, and lab or research groups).
