IS&T maintains a pool of computing equipment available for loan to eligible MIT students, faculty, and staff who are traveling outside of the United States. IS&T recommends leaving your standard MIT-issued and personally owned equipment at home and using loaner equipment when traveling internationally.
The Office of the Provost, in collaboration with the Office of Campus Planning, is piloting a new program of sharing meeting space across campus through May 2023. IS&T has partnered with Zoom's Professional Services Organization (PSO) to equip these spaces with Zoom Rooms solutions offering a consistent experience across diverse locations.
Use of these spaces is available to MIT faculty, students, and staff through reservations made via the Spaces feature within the MIT Atlas mobile application.
IS&T provides IT accessories for instructors to use in MIT classrooms, as well as ethernet cables for staff and students, through a set of self-service vending machines in several convenient locations on campus. These machines also provide KF94 face masks to any MIT community member who has an active MIT ID.
These supplies are provided at no charge. Tap your digital MIT ID on your phone or your MIT ID card to the machine’s reader and select the item you need.
IS&T is here to provide you with advice and support on IT issues during your time at the Institute. Below are minimum computer hardware configurations for incoming MIT students.

To provide the core infrastructure needed to support collaboration through virtual and hybrid meeting experiences, IS&T offers two options for Zoom Rooms solutions to MIT departments, labs, and centers (DLCs):
DLC Direct serves as an on-demand ‘one-stop-shop’ to handle anything from routine IT tasks to consultations and implementation of IT services.
IS&T assists the MIT community with computing needs analysis and purchasing advice. Laptop computers running the Windows or macOS operating system (OS) are strongly recommended for Institute faculty and staff since they provide the maximum flexibility needed to work anywhere on campus.

MIT provides centrally-managed printers as well as network connectivity for department or personally owned printers. Both color and black-and-white printers are now available in all MIT dorms.
Hardware vendors offer mail-in repair options for laptops. Non-portable computers can be serviced by authorized service providers. IS&T provides loaner laptops to be used while a device is out for repair. Details for MIT preferred vendors Apple, Dell, and Lenovo are listed below. Note: If your department has a DLC Direct agreement with IS&T, contact your IS&T support team first for assistance with mail-in repair of MIT-owned equipment.
