MIT students, faculty, or staff with a valid Kerberos account may request assignment of a hostname and IP address via permanent DHCP reservation for a device connected to the MIT network. DHCP is now used for IP address assignment on MITnet. Permanent DHCP reservations are used instead of static addresses, providing the same functionality while improving IS&T's ability to manage the network.
Before submitting a request, check whether the hostname is already in use on MITnet.
